Through the years, Raja has introduced us to some of the most exceptional work known in the
belly dance industry. Raja’s highly-westernized, Middle Eastern musical concepts have been
well received in many countries all over the world. Raja was born in the mountains of Lebanon. His father, a prominent doctor, believed strongly in education and wanted his son to pursue an academic course of study. Raja made a deal with his parents. They would send him to the United States to pursue his desire of becoming a musician with the condition that he first earn a degree in an academic field. Making his parents proud and keeping his promise, Raja graduated with a degree in political science. He continued studying music. |
Raja is an extraordinarily creative musician. He drove his music teachers out of their minds
by learning pieces and then arranging them his way. At the university, his talents broadened
into theater and film-making. He also began playing in several nightclubs while studying in
America, showing his talent for showbiz. Raja’s break came after he posed as a magazine reporter and got in to see a top music producer.

Once in his office, he proclaimed, I’m not a reporter I’m a drummer better than anyone
you’ve ever seen! He left him a tape of his music and his phone number. The producer never got
a chance to say a word as Raja left his office. Two months later Raja got a call back. The
producer told him to report to composer Hugo Montenegro of The Good, The Bad and the Ugly fame.
Today Raja has ten albums and seven videos known worldwide. Raja has returned to Lebanon and is focusing on film making, directing and enjoying life. On the musical horizon, Raja is compiling a work of the best of raja and a brand new release coming your way soon! |
